Říčany claimed third Extraliga title in a row, after beating Tatra Smíchov in two games on score aggregate. Third place goes to Sparta Prague.

For the first time in years, rugby games were broadcast live on television. New sports channel, CT 4 Sport transmitted two international fixtures, four Extraliga games and made a coverage of a beach rugby tournament.

RC Praga and RC Bystrc were both relegated by Slavia and Petrovice, due to the new relegation/promotion system. Two bottom teams were successfully challenged by teams from the second division.

New season kicks off in August, runs through to November, then restarts again in April and finishes in June.
