Press Release: Czech team to face Ukraine

March 2 2005 - Prague

The Czech national team will face Ukraine in the European Championship Division A on Saturday, March 12. The kickoff is at 14 hours, at RC Tatra Smichov stadium.

Czech coach Christian Galonnier selected 22 players for this game:

  • forwards: Skall, Šuster, Souček, Kubálek, Rapant, Indrák, Voves, Weber, Žíla, Vondrášek, Němeček, Leroch
  • backs: Syrový, Dosedla, Kafka, Schlanger, Brabec, Pekárek, Jágr, Krejčí, Tomčík, Rohlík.

There are two new players in the Czech side. J B Soucek, a Frenchman with Czech origins played in the TOP 16 league in France for Auch. Other newcomer is hooker Pavel Indrák, playing his first season in Pwllheli in North Wales.

Toulon star winger Martin Jágr is facing a fitness test and is expected to join the squad.

The team meets for the first training session on Tuesday, March 8.
